Saltaire Beer Club
Our next social trip is to Saltaire Brewery in West Yorkshire on Friday, 30th May.
We'll be attending the infamous 'Beer Club' - a mini beer festival, featuring 3 bars and 13 pumps (+ 4 keg fonts) serving a range of Saltaire ales as well as beers from guest breweries which have included Dark Star, Thornbridge, Buxton, Liverpool Organic, Crouch Vale, Acorn, Titanic, Marble, to name a few. What's more, all beer is just £2 a pint !!!!
We'll be leaving The Anvil at 12 noon and arriving back around 9.30pm. The Saltaire Beer Club starts at 4pm, so there'll be an opportunity to call at a couple of pubs en-route.
We'll be taking this opportunity to present the Pale Beer of the Festival award to Saltaire Brewery. As a token of appreciation, Saltaire have waived the entrance fee (normally £5pp) to the Beer Club for our party.
We have had two very successful social trips to-date in 2014. On March 29th, we went to Titanic Brewery and also visited some of the best pubs in the Potteries. On April 12th, we went to Red Willow Brewery followed by the pubs of Macclesfield. We also called in for a quick pint at the Merlin Brewery at Arclid in Cheshire.
We are now taking reservations for our next two social trips which are :-
Saturday June 28th - Brewery double-header : Magic Rock & Hand Drawn Monkey breweries then the pubs of Huddersfield (Branch Members = £20). Trip restricted to 30 people due to capacity of breweries.
Sunday August 3rd - Spitting Feathers Brewery, near Chester (Cost £30 - may seem expensive but this is a 5-hour extravaganza with lots of 'free' food, beer, entertainment and an interactive brew day).
Wigan Beer Festival 2014

Special thanks goes to all the volunteers who worked the socks off putting the event together and making sure everything ran smoothly during the festival. However the biggest thanks goes to you lot .... Joe Public, for turning up in droves and drinking all our lovely ales and ciders. You almost drank us dry .... but not quite !!
