Wigan Beer Festival is fast approaching !!!
The 28th Wigan CAMRA Beer Festival runs from 5th to 7th March 2015 at our usual venue : Robin Park Indoor Sports Centre, Loire Drive, Wigan. (opposite DW Stadium).

At the AGM on January 14th 2015, voting took place for our annual pub/club awards. The winners are as follows :-

New kids on the block
Real ale in the Wigan area continues to thrive which has resulted in two new local breweries commencing operations within the past six months.
Martland Mill Brewery commenced operations on 11th July 2014. For more information check out their website at Martland Mill Brewery.
Hophurst Brewery in Hindley commenced operations in October 2014. For more information check out their website at Hophurst Brewery.
There is also a trend of smaller independent bars opening within the past few months, both locally and across the Greater Manchester region. Some local examples of these include :-
All Gates and Prospect prosper again at regional beer competition
Congratulations to two of our local breweries, All Gates and Prospect, upon winning awards at the SIBA North-West Beer Competition held at Bolton Beer Festival on 15th October 2014.
Allgates won a silver award in the Best Bitter category with 'Dry Bones' (4.0%) whilst Prospect won a bronze award in the Bottled Speciality Beers category with 'Clementine' (5.0%).
Other local-ish breweries winning awards were Bank Top (Bolton) and Blackedge (Horwich).
